Welcome struggling gamers of Survivor.io! Are you having difficulty passing the first couple of levels? Honestly, I couldn’t get past the first level, and I had a hard time figuring out why. A huge zombie hoard would overtake me, and I would lose. Here are 4 quick tips to help you get past the first level (or 3) and get you moving further into the game. I hate when articles go into a long description about the game (because you already know what it’s about…that’s why you are here) so let’s jump right in.
Tip # 1: Pick the right Skills
There are a lot of different skills in the game, and the skills listed here are not always the best for when you progress later in the game. This is a beginner’s guide and using these skills at the very beginning helped us a ton.
Skill # 1: Force Barrier
The most important skill to select and advance as fast as possible is force barrier. Force barrier essentially puts a force field around you that harms enemies that walk into it. As you advance, stronger enemies get hurt, but will not get killed by the force barrier; however, at the beginning it’s a game changer. With the first two (honestly even the first five) stages the force barrier will melt swarms of zombies no matter how many come at you. It melts them away so fast that they won’t even get a hit on you. With that being said, there are bigger zombies (not bosses) that appear and will drop a chest if you kill them…watch out for them. Your force barrier will not kill them before they hit you. When force barrier is rolling and you are just melting zombies, it’s easy to look away from your screen with confidence (honestly, we did this more than once) only to realize a big zombie approached me, took all my health, and killed me. Outside of that situation, the force barrier is a major reason we got through the first few stages.
Skill # 2: Guardian:
Guardian is a skill that essentially has two tops spin around you, and it does great damage to zombies especially when they start to swarm. Level this up fast enough and have force barrier active as well and you will be mowing down zombies in no time. Guardian is even a great skill to have when fighting a boss. If you level it up enough, it can deal great amounts of damage to bosses.
Skill #3: Rockets/Lightening:
Both are in the same skill for a beginner’s guide because they are both very helpful especially against bosses. Bosses are often best fought from distance, especially at the beginning of the game. Lighting will always strike a boss when fighting one and rockets (usually) shoot at them and deal good levels of damage. Again, these skills may not stay the best as you advance in the game, but they are extremely helpful at the beginning levels.
Tip # 2: Use items at the right time
You will notice as you run around the level there are chests. Chests contain coins, food, bombs, and magnets. Use these to your advantage. A magnet combined with the force barrier will make enemies get melted by my forcefield. After five minutes (when a boss is about to spawn) collect the magnet and then collect all the gems that dropped and level up 10 times at once (it is a lot of fun to do it this way). Also, stay near bombs because when a boss shows up (especially in the first few levels) you can activate the bomb and take a chunk of health off the boss as soon as the battle begins. After defeating a boss, they will drop a chest, food, and a magnet. Do not collect the items right away. Instead, stay near them and then after killing a massive hoard with the force barrier and guardian skill, collect the magnet and food in case your health has gone down. Also, remember those bigger zombies that are not bosses? Even if they get a couple hits on you, now with the saved pieces of food and you can regain your health (this is of course assuming you don’t need the food after defeating a boss).
Tip # 3: Spend your gems on the right stuff!
At the beginning, you need better gear because the game will not drop great stuff. Make sure you collect as many gems as you can and get to 2680 as fast as possible, so that you can open 10 S Grade Supplies Crates as soon as possible. This is where you are going to get gear that will help you at the next level. It doesn’t take long to accumulate gems and when you get a few levels in, you can then start collecting daily activities which will get you more gems. Do this ASAP and you will be able to gather better gear, better skills, and have an easier time defeating all those zombies.
Tip # 4: Spend your coins!
You will level up just by playing the game. With that said… make sure you go to the evolve tab (at the bottom all the way to the right) and spend your coins on leveling up your skill for your character. This will help you in the beginning by giving you a more leveled up character. Also, spend your coins on leveling up the gear you wear. I would not spend too much too fast because you will get better gear relatively quickly, but if you find yourself stuck then it might not be a bad idea.
That’s the quick beginners guide. Hopefully, it will help you break through the first few levels and unlock some more fun features of the game. In the comments below, let us know if the guide was helpful and any tips you have that were helpful to you in the beginning.
